How the Echo chainsaw range is organised
Echo keeps things simpler than most: one long petrol line badged CS, running from 25 cc to 73.5 cc, plus a single battery saw. There is no separate homeowner and professional series. Instead two suffix letters do the sorting, T for a top-handle climbing saw and P for a professional one, and the number itself tells you the size.
Top-handle, for tree work
Echo CS-2511T (25 cc, 2.36 kg), Echo CS-271T (26.9 cc, 2.99 kg), Echo CS-355T (35.8 cc, 3.63 kg) and the battery Echo DCS-2500T (3.31 kg) are the arborist saws, all around a 30.48 cm bar.
Compact rear-handle
Echo CS-2511P (25 cc, 2.59 kg) is a professional saw at climbing-saw weight. Echo CS-310 (30.5 cc, 3.99 kg) and Echo CS-352 (34 cc, 3.99 kg) are listed for general trimming and limbing; Echo CS-3510 (34.4 cc, 3.72 kg) for tree removal and light land clearing; Echo CS-361P (35.8 cc, 3.81 kg) is the professional saw of that size.
Mid-range
Echo CS-400 and Echo CS-4010 are both 41.6 cc and 4.26 kg on a 45.72 cm bar, both listed for homeowners. Echo CS-501P moves up to 50.2 cc and 4.81 kg, taking a bar up to 50.8 cm.
Farm, ranch and felling
Echo CS-590 Timber Wolf (59.8 cc, 5.99 kg, bar up to 60.96 cm) is the farm-and-ranch saw. Echo CS-620P (6.21 kg) and Echo CS-620PW (6.4 kg) share that 59.8 cc engine with a professional rating and a bar up to 68.58 cm. Above them sit Echo CS-680 (66.8 cc, 6.6 kg) and Echo CS-7310P (73.5 cc, 6.71 kg, bar up to 81.28 cm).
Fuel capacity tracks the bands closely, from 0.189 l on the 25 cc saws to 0.801 l on the CS-7310P.
Reading an Echo model number
CS is Echo's petrol chainsaw prefix. DCS marks the battery saw, here the Echo DCS-2500T.
The digits approximate engine displacement in cc, and more directly than at most brands. Echo CS-2511P is 25 cc, Echo CS-271T 26.9, Echo CS-310 30.5, Echo CS-352 34, Echo CS-355T 35.8, Echo CS-400 41.6, Echo CS-501P 50.2, Echo CS-590 Timber Wolf 59.8, Echo CS-680 66.8 and Echo CS-7310P 73.5. Read the first two digits as the engine size and you land within a cubic centimetre or two on every saw here but one: the CS-620P is 59.8 cc, the same engine as the CS-590.
Three- and four-digit names pair off. The CS-352 and Echo CS-3510 are 34 and 34.4 cc; the CS-400 and Echo CS-4010 are both 41.6 cc at 4.26 kg. Same size of saw, two designations.
The letters follow the pattern in the data. Every T model is a light saw listed for arborists, 2.36 to 3.63 kg. Every P model carries a professional use class. W marks the wrap-handle version: the Echo CS-620PW is 0.19 kg heavier than the Echo CS-620P on identical displacement.
