How the Greenworks chainsaw range is organised

Every Greenworks saw held here is battery-powered; there is no petrol model in the range. What separates one from another is the battery platform, and fixing that first makes the rest of the comparison straightforward. Bear in mind that these saws are stored under their full retail listing text, so a name such as "80V 18 Chainsaw And Blower Combo Kit 2Ah Battery" describes a bundle rather than a different saw.

24V and 40V: 14 and 16 inch only

Neither entry-level platform goes past a 40.64 cm bar. 40V 16 Brushless Chainsaw With Battery And Charger records 1.3 kW and, at 6.8 kg, is the heaviest Greenworks saw in this data — worth noting, because weight does not rise with platform in this line-up. The dual-battery 48V option, 2 X 24V 48V 14 Brushless Chainsaw 2 4Ah USB Batteries And Dual Port Charger CS48l4410, records 1.8 kW and 5.22 kg on a 35.56 cm bar.

60V: the middle ground

The 60V saws cover 40.64 and 45.72 cm. 60V 18 Brushless Chainsaw With Battery And Charger is the only Greenworks saw with an intended use recorded — homeowner — at 2.0 kW, 6.12 kg and 20 m/s.

80V: most power, and the lightest saws

The top platform also holds the lightest machines. 80V 18 Chainsaw 2Ah Battery is 45.72 cm, 2.0 kW and 4.08 kg, the lightest recorded here; 80V 18 Gen II Chainsaw 4 0Ah Battery And 4AMP Rapid Charger stores the highest power output in the range, 2.5 kW, at 4.31 kg. Not every 80V saw is quick, though: 80V 18 Brushless Chainsaw With Battery And Charger records 10.5 m/s where most of the range sits at 20 m/s or above.

Chain pitch is 3/8 inch on all sixteen and oil tanks hold 0.18–0.23 L, so the differences that matter are bar length, power and weight. See also battery saws and 18-inch saws.

Reading a Greenworks model designation

Greenworks saws are stored here under their retail listing text rather than a short model code, so there is no compact designation to decode. The information you need is present; it is simply written out in the order the listing uses.

Read it left to right:

1. Battery platform — 40V, 60V, 80V, or 2×24V, which the listings also write as 48V.
2. Bar length in inches — the bare number after the voltage. "80V 18" is an 18-inch bar, recorded as 45.72 cm in the specifications.
3. Motor type — "Brushless", where the listing states it.
4. What is in the box — battery amp-hours, charger, sometimes a spare chain or a second tool. "80V 18 Chainsaw And Blower Combo Kit 2Ah Battery" is the 18-inch saw bundled with a blower.

Two entries also end in a catalogue code: CS48l4410 and CS80l211. With only two examples the pattern can be described but not stated as a rule — CS for chainsaw, then the platform voltage, 48 and 80, then a letter and further digits.

One other marker is load-bearing. "Gen II" identifies a revision within the 80V 18-inch group, and it is not cosmetic: that saw records 2.5 kW where the other 80V 18-inch entries record 1.8 to 2.0 kW.

Nothing in a Greenworks name indicates weight, which ranges from 4.08 to 6.8 kg. Check the specification table for that.
