How the Ryobi chainsaw range is organised

One thing to know before you read on: Ryobi saws are stored here under their retail SKU rather than a model name, so the groups below are described by battery platform and bar length. That is a gap in our records, not in Ryobi's line-up.

Sixty Ryobi entries are held, 53 of them with at least one verified specification. Bar length is recorded for 51, power source for 45, chain speed for 21 and an intended-use note for 24. No weight and no engine displacement is stored for any Ryobi saw, so weight comparisons against other brands are not possible here.

18V ONE+ — pruning and light limbing

The 18V group runs from 15.24 cm to 25.4 cm of bar. The 20.32 cm saws share a slow 4.60 m/s chain and are labelled for light pruning and limbing: 46396052810, 46396035790 and 46396005335 all record the same figures. 46396039866 is recorded as a pole saw. At 25.4 cm, 46396055903 is listed for regular tree maintenance and storm clean-up.

40V — up to felling work

The 40V saws span 25.4 cm — 46396036483, pruning and light limbing — to 45.72 cm. 46396053039 and 46396053022 are the only Ryobi saws recorded for felling, bucking and limbing, both on a 45.72 cm bar at 22.50 m/s.

Petrol — 2-cycle, 35.56 cm to 50.8 cm

Four entries are recorded as 2-cycle: 46396015198 at 35.56 cm and 21 m/s, 46396015204 at 40.64 cm, 46396017697 at 45.7 cm and 22.50 m/s, and 46396017703 at 50.8 cm. Displacement is not stored for any of them.

Everything else, by bar length

Many entries record only "Battery" or "Electric" with no voltage, so bar length is the practical way in. The 30.48 cm group includes 46396039880 at 22.50 m/s; the 40.64 cm group includes 46396054524, noted for storm clean-up; and the longest bars in the brand, 50.8 cm and 51 cm, belong to 46396054548 and 46396054555, both listed for felling, bucking and limbing.

Reading a Ryobi model designation

There is no model name to read. Every Ryobi saw in this database is identified by an eleven-digit retail SKU — 46396053022, 46396017697, and so on — because that is the identifier Ryobi's own product pages use, and it is what we captured. If you are trying to place a saw you saw on a shelf or in a listing, the SKU is the reliable handle; a description like "Ryobi 18-inch cordless" matches several different entries.

All sixty share the same five-digit prefix, 46396. It carries no information about the saw: pruners and 50.8 cm saws alike begin with it.

The remaining six digits are a catalogue sequence rather than a code. Numbers issued close together are often related — 46396039842 and 46396039859 are both 30.48 cm — but the pattern does not hold reliably. 46396039873 is a 20.32 cm 18V pruning saw running 4.60 m/s, while 46396039880, the next SKU in our records, is a 30.48 cm saw running 22.50 m/s. Nothing in the digits encodes voltage, bar length or displacement.

In practice: identify a Ryobi saw by its SKU, then confirm it against the two specifications recorded most consistently, bar length and power source. Weight and displacement are unavailable for every Ryobi model held here.
