Fuel Tank Capacity
SpecificationThe volume of the fuel tank in litres, holding the petrol and two-stroke oil mixture on a combustion saw. Together with fuel consumption it sets how long the saw runs between refills.
Tank size is a trade-off against weight, since fuel carried is weight carried, and manufacturers size the tank so that a full load lasts roughly one working session rather than as long as physically possible. It is usually paired deliberately with the Oil Tank Capacity so that both tanks empty at about the same time — if yours do not, the oiler setting is probably wrong. Mixed two-stroke fuel degrades in storage, so a large tank is no advantage if the saw sits unused for months; drain it rather than leaving stale mix in the carburettor.
